Series 9: Old Towel New - Washcloths

I hope you're enjoying some well-deserved rest this lovely Easter weekend.

A quick and quiet "Old Towel New" installment today. I'm transforming old towels into other stuff in this series. This one's a no-brainer. It goes a little something like this...

If you're not familiar with how to make seam binding, an extremely thorough binding tutorial resides right here! Once you've made the binding, then...

Don't forget to sew it down! I did it by hand, but you could do it by machine as well.

All of which leaves you with...

Match them to your bathroom or kitchen and enjoy!

Have a safe and Happy Easter!

  4. I just made 2 baby wash cloths from the bath towel scraps leftover when I cut a full size NEW towel into a 30"square for a hooded duck towel for a baby gift! I used two different decorative stitches on each washcloth, in contrasting colors, to sew the binding down. So Cute! It's my usual go-to, or should I say whip-up in an evening, for a baby gift! The towels are so much larger and heavier than anything you can purchase.

  6. I love these so much! I cut up a towel years ago intending to make flannels/washcloths but I couldn't get the edges right and they are somewhere stored away waiting to be finished. LOVE the seam binding edging! I must resurrect them and have a go at this!

  7. I hate to admit this but i would never have thought of re-purposing old towels into wash cloths. I have re-purposed old towels into tons and tons of rags - but unfortunately many more rags than i will ever need! I am always short of wash cloths - so guess what I am going to be doing!

  8. great idea! I just threw out a towel the other day. somehow it was all bunched up at the ends and it drove me crazy, but it was a perfectly good towel... I debated and debated, but finally I just was so frustrated withit, I got rid of it. I should have done this with it!

  9. I just made baby bibs from some lovely white bath towels that I bought at K Mart, but didn't know what to do with the leftover pieces.
I am going to make the wash cloths to go with the bibs.
Now no leftovers to worry about.
Thanks for such a great idea.

  11. This is brilliant! I'm re-doing both my bathrooms right now and of course want to change ALL the colors. But who can afford new EVERYTHING. YAY! Thanks to your nifty idea I get to bring in new colors for a fraction of what I would have spent on new linens!!!!

I'm new to your blog and so happy to have found it!

    Have an amazing weekend!
