Bowtie Quilt Flimsy

Hello blog.

Hello you. I hope you've been well.

I've been away for some time t'would appear. Months and months and months. But here I am again interestingly. I think I thought I wouldn't be back. I think I thought I was done with blogging. But I've surprised even myself today because here I am.

Anyway... Here is my latest project. A scrappy, queen-size, bowtie flimsy (that's an unquilted quilt top in case you were wondering) I've only just completed. She's now ready for the next big step...

Sandwiching and basting, and then quilting after that. I'm choosing to machine-quilt this one. Hopefully ol' Betty, the ancient White sewing machine, is up to the task. I sometimes wonder if I am...

We will have to wait and see I guess. Maybe I'll surprise myself again. Surprises can be a good thing, right?

  1. Welcome back! I like that you used the traditional bow tie block, and not the shortcut version with triangles. And I love all the shirting fabrics.

    1. Thanks for the welcome abelian. So glad you noticed the bow ties. I'm partial to the traditional ones. They are so cute. I resorted to partially hand-sewing them because it was quicker than machine-sewing them actually.

And Ive got 2 more hexi tops on the go as well since then........<<< am good at making UFOs.
Hope the family is well and by the choice of the fabrics and colours used here, I reckon your spirit has been lifted in the meanwhile. Good : )

    1. Liniecat, hi, and thanks for the welcome! Yes, there are a lot of old shirts in this one. Plaids and stripes only as I've been collecting them for a dog's age and thought it was time to use them in a project. This one is going on our bed. It's huge! Hopefully I'll be able to handle the quilting. I'm planning of keeping the quilting simple so it should be okay... Great to hear you're still working away on the hexies (they're addictive, aren't they?). Keep up the good work! :)

  5. Welcome back, having a blog break is a great thing, just woken from blog nap myself. It's nice to be reminded of what's really important isn't it and creativity doesn't stop just because we're on a break. Lovely quilt, love that it's made from shirts <3

    1. Thanks Ruby, you've hit the nail on the head. I definitely needed a break (and a long one at that)! And as far as the future of this blog goes, I can't say where that's headed...

  9. Hi, Michelle! It seems I have been away, too, for months and months. It is good to see you back. I always check to see if you have posted, and what a nice surprise to see your beautiful quilt top. I still work on my hexies every once in a while. At my rate, my grandkids may have to finish it, and my own kids aren't even teenagers yet!
