Parallels: A Junk Mail Collage

Have you tried collage? Ah yes, most enjoyable... Especially if you allow a piece to emerge spontaneously out of the materials you've chosen I think.

All parts of this small collage were cut from sale flyers and the local newspaper. I used favourite bits of yellow, grey, black and white for this one. The bits were then attached "improvisationally" with Mod Podge to a piece of paper stretched and stapled onto an old unused picture frame.

I'm calling it "Parallels".

  1. Hello, Michele! You are so inventive! It's like a city seen from a plane.:)
This year Blogger stopped informing me automatically about your new posts, so I thought you've stopped blogging. Now I am glad to see I can read what I've missed.
    Happy November!:)

  3. Hi Michelle!!!!
How are you? Strangely your post appeared on my blog roll list just today and I thought "Finally , a new post from Michelle!" …. then I saw that you didn't stop to blog for a while …. sometimes you realise that that are technical problems on your blog, but I still don't understand why!!!!
Love your collage, btw ! xxxxx Ale

  5. This is so cool. I haven't collaged in years...likely ever since quilting took over! Now the only collating I do is on Big Huge Labs ; ). I love the balance and line in this work Michele!

    1. Thanks so much Krista. I find similarities between quilting and collage. The mixing of colour and texture in a finite space. But collage is smaller (usually) and faster. Fun stuff. :)

  6. You're back! Nice to see you here again Michele! - I've just been catching up on your posts - gorgeous bow quilt and your adventures in the thicket! Love this collage and your upcycling, eco-friendly attitude and crafts. Sorry it's taken me a while to find you back - I've had my head down getting stuff done over the past few months - today is the first day I'm freed from projects now finished and I can take some time to explore what everyone else has been up to! Looking forward to reading more of your adventures!
    Jill :)

    1. Hey Jill,

Yes I'm back in a limited way, I guess. Trying to keep it simple and easy, you know? It's good to be here and it's very nice to hear from you as well. Take care you!
