Oh..my GOSH!! If I say this is a masterpiece, that would be an understatement because I cannot find words to describe this grandiose work of art!! I am absolutely bedazzled from its impressiveness!! You are amazing!
Michele, it is gorgeous! I love the way you planned and staggered the colors. I particularly love the red on the top and bottom. Are you planing on leaving the edges or are you squaring it up? I love them as they are now. What a feat!
Madness, absolute madness! So much work - the result is truly worth it all. The color shifting is magical, Michele! And I LOVE that first sunlit photo!
I'm not a quilter, but I know when something is amazing and this is totally amazing! The skill, the temerity to stick with such a huge project, and then the organization of the colors. It's really, really special and beautiful. An heirloom!
OMG, I do think this may be the first actually-finished hexie quilt top I have seen! :-) And it's stunning. Absolutely stunning. Your use of colors, that linear pattern with the patches - just a work of art.
...Yes take as much rest as you need before you finish this baby!
Monet move over! Here comes Michele's impressionist quilt top! So lovely. A true work of art. I can imagine it will go down in the family generations as treasure to behold.
I rarely comment on blogs...but I had to tell you, when I clicked on this post, I said out loud (without anyone else in the room) "Wow, that is BEAUTIFUL!" Way to go. :)
I had a similar reaction to Lori... I gasped so hard my girls came running to see what was wrong! Un-freaking-believable, Michele. You have totally outdone yourself. I bow down to the queen of hexagons. I am in absolute awe. You must be so proud (and happy :) that the top is done.
Absolutely GORGEOUS! The movement of the colors is exceptional. What a stunning work of art you have created, and a treasure to be passed down for many generations. You should be so proud of yourself for sticking to it, and a break is much deserved! It is absolutely beautiful!
Hello michele, Just a minute, I'm drooling over my desk... That's better! It is STUNNING! A wonderful work of art. Coingratulations, I know it's been long and hard work but so totally worth it. Big hug, Giac
Stunningly beautiful color combination. That is one of the VERY VERY VERY best quilt tops in this world! WOW! You have pieced it together PERFECTLY! I absolutely love it.
It's me again...lol...It's not just that you sewed every tiny piece together by hand it's the WAY you put them together. I could just sit here and stare at it for hours. This is a true masterpiece! :D
That is beautiful. I have one of these that I sew on from time to time when I don't have anything else going. I will probably have it finished by the time my boy graduates high school (he's 2 now). I love the fact that fiber arts are coming back "in style". I've always been a crafter and I am so glad I happened to come across your blog. I will be a regular now!!!
Oh my goodness and look at all the quilty love on this one!!! I think you hit a cord! Everyone must love hexies! and you, yes YOU, are our hexie super hero!!!
This is beautiful! I'm taking the Block of the Month class, too, and the hexi blocks were some of my most favorite...since we learned those I've been planning to make a hexi quilt...I just have to get finished with my BOM quilt first (it's my first one!). In fact, I'm working on it right now and that's how I stumbled upon your blog - trying to get inspiration on how to hand quilt the various blocks.
I can only repeat what others have said, this quilt IS a masterpiece. Absolutely astonishing to look at. I have seen many quilts I love, but this one instantly became my favorite quilt. I truly believe it should already reside in a museum to be protected and saved for all the upcoming generations. Thank you very much for sharing your work. I go back to my work table truly inspired.
