Wow. That is just about one of the prettiest quilts I've ever seen. One of my favorite antique methods is the Yo-Yo quilt, and this has that sort of merry color-frolic, but better, because the flatness of the hexagons let me see the bits of pattern better. Well done, girl.
ReplyDeleteWow, handsome, handpicked and at hand! Love, love, love the border!
ReplyDeleteWow! I know it's been said, but wow! After learning how labor intensive it is to just make the hexagons, never mind stitch them all together, I am more than impressed with this quilt. And hand quilted! Another wow!
ReplyDeleteHoly buckets woman, what a labor of love. Absolutely wonderful! You should be very proud. I know I am, and I don't even know you!
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend.

Holy Hot Tamales! That is amazing! I think I would retire the needles if I made something like that! Life's achievements: Done. You are so inspiring! Hope you had a glass of wine afterwards.
ReplyDeleteLove the first picture and the picture of it on the table they show off its bountiful colorfulness the best imho...but of course we do need to see the back of this most amazing effort.
ReplyDeleteGreat work!!
That is really beautiful and I love how you did the back with the border of hexagons. Making an hexagon quilt by hand is on my bucket list, this is so inspiring. Oh, and i LOVE the name!!

ReplyDeleteSo, so beautiful. You are my total hero, and probably the only person I know online who's actually finished a hex quilt. Hand-quilting it is a truly championship move. And that hexie edging is just perfect and gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI am speechless. This is absolutely beautiful.

ReplyDeleteBask in how good you must be feeling right now!!! It has been a treat watching the progress over the past year ... and now finally - the last stitch has been made!
ReplyDeleteI am completely impressed with your hand stitching - perfect! If my hand stitching through the quilt layers looks even half as good as yours - I would display the quilt from the back!!!!!
Congratulations! Well done you.
I've gotta HAND it to you! This quilt is hexalicious! (;
ReplyDeleteOh and most likely you will hand-wash too, right? This is truly a great heirloom! I am curious to see what direction you will take with your next quilt when you come up for air.
ReplyDeleteMichele youve SO set the bar lass, this is remarkably fine! ........
ReplyDeleteI love the edging idea and what a great quilting idea too. Ive got sketches of quilty ideas for mine ( which is on hold whilst I knit for baby at the moment) but its gonna be SO much less than yours LOL

I'm speechless, ditto to all the other comments. I'm not sure which impresses me more, the beauty of it or that you finished it in less than a year. I still have quilt blocks I made 20 years ago that have yet to make their way into a finished quilt!

ReplyDeleteThe quilt is beautiful. I love the play of colours. I am working on a hexagon quilt too and there are days when I dont seem to get time to work on it. I think I should follow your example and do a little bit every day! How did you do that hexagon border on the back? It is such a neat thing. You will be my inspiration now!
