Crazy Heart Cushion

Don't know if you remember the Quilted Heart Rug? Well here's its companion piece, the Crazy Heart Cushion.

Forgive me, but I couldn't resist making another heart-themed quilted thingie... Looks quite fetching resting in the great outdoors on my wooden bench, doesn't it?

Corked Cushion "Safe To Dance"

Eight months in the making and it's finally here. Yay, me! Why eight months? Heaven knows... I got distracted or something.

Slow though it was, this cushion was inspired by Men Without Hats "Safety Dance", so I'm calling it my "Safe To Dance" corked cushion. Corked because I made the knitted tubing embellishment with my own two hands using a new-to-me method called spool-knitting or corking. I'm doing a little jig right now in celebration of this pillow's completion! Dance with me now... Come come, let's see your moves.

Nice.

This is my first attempt at doing the "invisible-zipper thing" too. I installed it without the fancy-special invisible zipper foot and it turned out pretty well. I may invest in the fancy-special foot because, from what I've read, they are quite inexpensive. But yes, it can be done without it. Amy's got some helpful installation hints, and there are countless YouTube videos and tutorials on the subject. I googled "how to install an invisible zipper" and was inundated by the 34 600 results. It seems I'm not alone in my quest for zippy stealth.

Oh, and find out how to cork or spool-knit HERE. The resulting tubes are just nifty and can be used in a plethora of ways. Have you ever made anything corked? Do tell.

Drop-Dead Denim Guest: Amy from During Quiet Time

September's denim adventure rolls on today with my dear friend, designer and sewist supreme, Amy from During Quiet Time. You looking for a denim project? Search no more. Here's Amy to show you the way...

Thank you for inviting me to join in on your denim fun, Michele!

When Michele approached me about creating a recycled denim tutorial, I couldn't say no to the challenge but fear was right there too. I get nervous stitching through all those layers of denim! As I was sewing my project, I found myself leaning back and squinting, expecting a needle to break at any moment. I considered safety glasses. Twice my thread broke and twice my machine displayed a message "Stop for safety sake." But all in all, it was lots of fun creating this free pattern for you!

I'd like to introduce my Upcycled Denim Pillow Play!

The theme here is the Three Little Bears but the options are endless. Papa bear can be hidden in the Papa sized fly; and Mama in the Mama sized fly. Baby fits in the Baby sized pocket. Goldilocks has a roomy back pocket all of her own but we know that won't satisfy her right? She will want to try them all out! The pillow is backed in an adorable print, just perfect for this project, called Appleville Houses in Bright from Suzy Ultman. I could picture the Three Little Bears living in any one of those houses.

If you'd like to make a little pillow front theater, just collect some jeans, download this pdf and you are on your way!

I'd love to have you pop over to my blog for a visit. I also have an Etsy shop where I sell my handprinted fabrics and patterns.

There's not a stitch of medium in this little pillow. It is downright hot AND totally cool all at the same time! Also, it's unBEARably cute, don't you think? I want one.

Amy, have I told you lately that you rock? 'Cause you rock. You rock big time. Thanks for rocking. I'm ecstatic that you agreed to play along in my denim game. It's always such a pleasure watching you go!

Now today I'm Diggin' This Denim: Denim Cot by Siddharth Hirwani

And I hope YOU have a fine fine day. I'll be back here on Friday with MORE denim! Yippee!
