Have you seen this flamingo?

  • Last seen: on October 18th, 2010, in a box amongst tissue paper on her way to the U.K. She has yet to reach her destination.
  • General Description: She's a flamingo with dark brown eyes. She's approximately a foot tall. She's very light. She is made from an old pink T-shirt. She wears a yellow and pink felt hat that looks like a flower. She is adorned in small felt flowers, and has a yellow ring around her beak. She's very well behaved and never says boo.

  • Distinguishing Features: Both her eyes are on the same side of her head. The tops of her feet are green with little salmon-coloured hearts. The undersides of her wings are orange. She has cork-screw legs. She will answer to exactly no name because she hasn't got one. Sniff.
I never named the flamingo because ultimately she isn't mine. I am only her creator. I made her for the Softie Swap held by The Clip Café earlier this year. She actually belongs to Amy @ The Happy Daisy and I felt it was more appropriate that Amy name her. I now regret that decision. Now there's a little pink floral flamingo bobbing amongst the bitterly cold waves of the North Atlantic with nothing. Not even a name. Sniff again.

If anyone sees this flamingo or has any information regarding its whereabouts please contact me or Amy @ The Happy Daisy anytime, day or night.

Now please have yourself a safe and happy day!

  3. Awww Michele, what a shame, she is so very sweet.

I'm in the UK so I'll keep an eye out for her - however, if I do find her I may just have to keep her all for myself!

    I'm sure she'll arrive eventually x

  10. I have a sneaky feeling she met up with a boy pink flamingo and he talked her into making a little side trip. Clearly not in her best interest and I think we can all throw a disapproving look their way when they turn up. She knows better and he's a bad influence. I expected more from her. I'm very disappointed, young lady.

  11. Dear Michele, I found your blog not so long ago and I admire your incredible imagination and creativity! The flamingo's destiny touched my heart... Poor sweet creature - all alone who knows where around the world! Poor sad Amy, too! I hope she'll smile very soon when the parcel reaches her home! But still, if something bad has happened to the No Name Flamingo, if she's got lost, I do believe she'll find someone to love her. Maybe you'll have to introduce to the world her newborn sister??
P.S. I like her feet - they are remarkable and "unique au monde!":))))

  12. How heartbreaking for you and Amy. I'm sniffing, too. My worst swap nightmare is to make something wonderful and see it lost. So sorry, Michele.

  15. Thanks everyone for your kind words. In answer to the question of her legs and how they are made. Well I started by winding up several pipe cleaners which I then covered with a tiny tube made of 2 colours of T-shirt. I then wound these around a pencil to get the cork-screw effect.

  19. Do you think the pink flamingo will fly down through here in NC in the US on the way to the UK? I doubt it, but a nice thought. I hope she make it safely. Please let us know, AMY. And what you have named this floral beauty.

  22. It's just not right when hand made, hand stuffed treasures go missing. Surely the postal fairy will hear your plee and she will be returned in one piece. Flamingos are absolutely my favourite bird, from my time living in Florida. We don't get a lot of them downunder, but I will keep a look out in case the ocean currents bring her our way.
