A Little House-ly Encouragement

To give you a little nudge, a little head start on your Christmas crafts, I've provided you with a few little printable house plans for these tissue box house ornaments I've made.

Here's a little house now... very simple and a tad plain really.

Here are a few that I've embellished with dimensional paint...

Use the printable tissue box template and make a few. Vary the dimensions and you get a bunch of different ones. All of these are from ONE tissue box!

And while you're at it... I mean, if you're going to be making them anyway, you may as well join in the fun of THE GREAT TISSUE BOX CHALLENGE, right?

Check it out!

  5. I just love love love to see creative ideas that re-use items we noramlly would throw away. Your houses remind me of ones my mom had when I was a kid - they had glitter on them, some even had lights inside.

I have to admit though, if I get my hands on an actual tissue paper box, I'm going to make a crocheted granny cover! I think I'll make houses from cereal boxes.....

  19. HI-I know this post is kind of older, but I was wondering if you can tell me what you used to hold the house together. Was it glue or package tape? They are just darling and I am not crafty at all and have to bring a craft to a holiday get together and this looks perfect. If you could answer me, I would so appreciate it! Thanks so much.

  20. Hi Adrienne,

I used clear packing tape to hold the houses together. That way the seams are essentially invisible and give a really nice finish on the houses.

    Hope that helps!

  22. thanks for these Michele. I made one each of these into teensy glitter homes. I used an exacto knife so I could set the homes on twinkle lights.

  24. Oh Michele,
I just can't keep my fingers from typing in your blog! Every single time I look around, I find yet another creative, green idea. You are amazing - where do you find the time to get so much done, plus raise a family!
I do have a question - are these houses you are showing us made from a decorative tissue box which you have then added more decoration to?? I live in Europe and so would not be able to recognize if the box was printed already. I do remember how nice the tissue boxes were when I did live in the States 25 years ago! Oh my!! How time does fly! It just seems from the pics that the box has got the blue designs then you have added the puffy paint on top. Thanks so very much for sharing with all of us (less talented) crafters, Lisa

    1. Hi Lisa,

Yes you're absolutely correct. The tissue box is blue and grey and then I've added a little dimensional paint in red, blue and gold. Hope that helps. :)

  25. Hi Michele,
What a wonderful idea!!! I have tried to access the link to the template but I keep getting a link to a Google website... what am I doing wrong??? I would love to get the template and make these adorable little houses!

  27. I also had a problem with the template so thanks to Debbi for addressing this. When I printed out the template, it looks so darn small - is this the size you used???? I know from looking at your photos that they really are tiny so I suppose the template is true to scale. Lisa

  28. These are adorable! Thank you for the template! I am thinking of making some as ornaments, maybe some twinkle light covers like someone else suggested, maybe also package tags, or a tiny village for my daughters to play with. So many possibilities!
