Happy Father's Day Lo!

Okay. I finished... Today. Whew.

So here it is. Lo's Father's Day footstool! (Happy Father's Day Lo. You are wonderful, and I love you with all my heart. x0x.)

Note that the last few days have been somewhat of a nightmare around here. Consequently this project was made even more hastily than originally planned and it is FAR FAR from perfect. I still have so much to learn when it comes to crochet. Like how to sew it all together so that it looks, you know, good. Anyway I mustn't dawdle. Lots more Father's day stuff to do!

Deadline.

Here is a peak at a new work in progress. It's another crochet project! How many do I have on the go now? Oooooh at least 3 that I know of... Ya, I'm probably addicted. I can't help myself! It's all the colourful yarns, all the textures, all that crazy amazing flickr inspiration! What am I to do, eh?

But this project has a deadline: Sunday!!! It's for Father's Day. Guess who's getting up early, working all day, and working all night until Sunday to get this done? Yep, me. I just hope it all works out cause I've never done this particular thing before and there's not a lot of time for trial and error, if you know what I mean!

Oh well, I can't turn back now... Wish me luck!

In the Making: Crochet-ed Something

I learned to crochet recently (here) which coincides surprisingly well with the yarn basket overhaul (here). In my attempt to clean up that mess, I have decided to make some more granny squares. Actually they are more like granny circles. Happily, these modified grannies otherwise known as African poppies are going to use up several colourful and leftover bits of yarn that have taken up semi-permanent residence in the basket and wreaking loads of havoc in the meantime. I learned to make them from the crochet artist elizabeth cat. These babies are so easy to make. And you can carry them anywhere! I have several more to crochet, not sure how many though, as I am not quite sure how they will ultimately be used. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. But I love them! I think I am going to keep making them until the yarn well runs dry because they are so much fun to make! Here's what I've made so far. Colourful to the point of almost being offensive, aren't they? I love them!!!

New Skill: Crochet

When I say Life List, you know what I mean, right? It's that list of all the amazing things you want to do before you, ya know, kick the bucket. Well, very near the top of my Life List was -you guessed it- learn to crochet a granny square. Big dreams, big dreams... So yesterday, I sat down with my little sister and together we worked on teaching me how to crochet. Yes, admittedly, it's not one of my crafty strengths. But I was determined to at least make one granny square before I die. And sure, the fact that I am left-handed was a stumbling block, but that didn't stop me. Hell no. I worked on that orange one for quite a while. I ripped it out... oh say... 8-ish times until I was able to (all on my own mind you) get it right.

Here, before your very eyes, is the result of that effort. TWO WHOLE granny squares!!! Believe me, it was worth the effort. Thanks for your help, Ariane, look what I made!

Scratch that one off the list...
